The favorite part of my day was… Seeing day 2 of the OMSI experiments in our science lab…nominating one of our teachers for Oregon Teacher of the Year…seeing the Valentines balloons Miss Vassar brought to school for EACH kindergarten student…seeing what the leadership class added to the high school hallway…& seeing Mr. Kido heading outside after school to work with a baseball player in preparation for the season. I’m fortunate to get to see all areas of the school on any given day…Good days & tough days, we all have a choice in how we show up & are present & today was a great example of seeing both staff & students CHOOSING to show up for each other…Another day full of opportunities seized by many. The favorite part of my day was… Coming together for our staff meeting after school & beginning our meeting with student celebrations… The student wins that were shared out by staff were the absolute epitome of “every kid every day 100% whatever it takes”. Some elementary teachers were able to hear about some high school wins of their former students that were perfect examples of why we never give up on students. And they were able to enjoy that deeply as they were a critical part of that student success along the way. Another example of why our K-12 school campus is so rewarding…to be able to see our students succeed, if not immediately right in front of us, often a few years down the road. The favorite part of my day was… …it actually started last night at 10pm when I got this picture texted to me with the message that our boys team is still undefeated, 18-0, a new school record, & 1 of only 4 teams remaining in the entire state that are undefeated…getting invited to & visiting the 4th grade classroom as they did their watershed projects led by Miss MaryLou…getting invited to & visiting Mrs. Fields’ 2nd grade class as they presented their animal reports…& getting a text from Mrs. Martin sharing what kindergarten PE was up to! We have great kids doing great things, with very bright futures ahead of them. Superintendent Fall #EveryKidEveryDay100WhateverItTakes
