The favorite part of my day was… You guessed it…the Kindergarten wiggle dance! The smiles on their faces & their thank you hugs-priceless… Getting pictures from Ms. Farrens from the 3rd grade field trip to the Fossil beds-the very SAME fossil beds I dug in as a 3rd grade student when I lived in Fossil. Such great learning experiences & memories all of these field trips are creating for our students…& being reminded regularly that we have a staff who know how to have fun & make work enjoyable everyday. The favorite part of my day was… Seeing our high school leaders setting such great examples for our youngest. We have some of the best future leaders in our own building & the younger grades benefit extra by those who are TAs (Teacher Assistants). (shout out to the FFA Food Drive too!) The Sherman County School District Board of Directors will hold a Regular Board Meeting on Monday, October 9, 2023 in the Sherman County Public/School Library Program Room. There will be an executive session held pursuant to ORS 192.660(2)(k) at 7:00 p.m. The regular board meeting will take place afterwards at approximately 7:30 p.m. Please find the agenda under the school board section of the website.

My Husky Highlight 💥 for today was… The K-5th grade “Character Matters” assembly 🧡🖤. Our character trait for this past month was Respect. 1️⃣6️⃣ kiddos were recognized by their teachers for showing respect this month. This is our best result ever.”) and getting to watch the middle school A, B and C Volleyball 🏐 team compete with Condon today! The favorite part of my day was… Capping off homecoming week with our K-12 assembly hosted by Mrs. Martin & the Leadership students. So fun to see upper class students teaming up with our youngest students. And to see the excitement, especially from Mrs. Martin, when she announced that 2nd grade won the color war competition…Not to mention the very intense series of rock, paper, scissors that everyone on pins & needles ;) Superintendent Fall #EveryKid.EveryDay.100%.WhateverItTakes.

The favorite part of my day was… Being formally invited to the Kindergarten classroom for their wiggle dance! I wasn’t able to get there in time so I’m crossing my fingers for another invite soon! And a teacher coming to share with me how impressed they were by a colleague for how above & beyond their colleague went to serve a student. The story was the epitome of every kid, every day, whatever it takes. The staff member going above & beyond was really great, but almost more encouraging & wonderful was how appreciative, impressed, & grateful the teacher was. Another reminder of how wonderful our staff is & how great it is to be in our small school & community. The teamwork is visible every single day. The favorite part of my day was… Seeing the improvement of our middle school volleyball teams as they took on Horizon Christian… And receiving multiple emails from the visiting football teams we hosted in a football game last Saturday. The favorite part of my day was… Seeing so many students of all ages dress up for swap day… Mrs. Petersen’s invite to all staff for after school workouts… And seeing the fliers hanging for the Thursday night Homecoming noise parade & bonfire, where ALL high school students are invited & welcome. The favorite part of my day was… Being in the Kindergarten classroom & seeing 1st hand how lucky we are to have Miss Vassar in Sherman. She is a natural & an excellent educator… Seeing all of the neon/80s dress up spirit in staff & students… Getting calibrated on instructional leadership with Principal Kroll… & a visiting volleyball parent seeking me out to compliment our school on our facilities & grounds. So kind & unprovoked…a testament to our facilities staff, & all staff & students for the care we take with our school. Great day to be a Husky. My Husky Highlight 💥today was… seeing 👀Craig Wood work so hard all day long including lining the field! And seeing 👀the public announcement of Ashley Macnab, being the Regional Teacher of the Year deservedly 🏆 🎉! And seeing the boots 🥾 outside the locker, something we all ❤️love about Sherman County!
