The favorite part of my day was…
The costume parade & our staff dressing up as Waldo. Kids kept asking which staff member was the “real Waldo”.

Tonight! At the Wasco school & put on by the PTO, Boosters, and Sherman Kids Zone.

The favorite part of my day was…
Seeing the staff collaborating throughout the Sheltered Instruction professional learning session this afternoon. I have a deep sense of appreciation & respect for professionals with a mindset to continue to strive to improve their skill sets. Teachers sharing instructional strategies with each other among many moments of laughter was a great way to end the week.

The favorite part of my day was…
That it was Thank You Thursday. This was our 2nd go at this new monthly tradition. It is so enjoyable to read the hilarious & thoughtful & endearing messages written by students kindergarten through 12th grade. It’s also nice to read the comments written by staff members expressing appreciation to their colleagues. The icing on the cake this evening was getting an email from a parent saying they “wanted to participate in Thank You Thursday” & they proceeded to express gratitude for a teacher who had gone above & beyond for their student today.

The favorite part of my day was…
Having our all-school send off as our Varsity Volleyball team headed to their state playoff game earlier today.

The favorite part of my day was…
Beginning to look deeply at our programming to see if what we’re doing currently is serving each student to the best of our capabilities given our human capital, current curriculum & materials, & scheduling. It may not seem like the most exciting work but it’s so motivating & inspiring to look at student performance data & then formulate a plan knowing the next steps will produce better outcomes for kids.

The favorite part of my day was…
Stepping into 2nd grade to help the class continue their choral read so Miss Nelson could step out to have a conference with a student. Reading skills, relationship building, and problem solving all happening at once.

The 5/6 Football game in Lyle/Wishram has been canceled due to air quality. Players are returning to school and will ride the 3:20 dismissal bus home.

The favorite part of my day was…
These two right here. The glue of the school. In any & every successful, high functioning team or organization you’ll find individuals who embrace their role. They understand how their daily contributions & attitudes are what make the success of the whole, possible. These two embody just that. There are no two other office managers I would choose as teammates.

The favorite part of my day was…
Receiving this note from an elementary student. Not 100% certain but we believe it says “dear miss fall you make me happy and feel safe”

The favorite part of my day was…
The several meetings I had with different teachers. Working with other passionate educators all striving for the same goals-student success-quite literally never gets old. The conversations are energizing and inspiring, and a secondary benefit is how they motivate me to continue to strive to be better everyday. We have great people at our school.

The favorite part of my day was…
Miss Tami bringing the twins to the office to show us how they’ve learned to write & sing the Russian alphabet. Miss Jen and I were so appreciative of how it brightened our day. And that they did it all by memory was so impressive!

Quick Reminder! There is no school for students tomorrow. Our staff will be engaging in a regional professional development event. Have a wonderful weekend!

The favorite part of my day was…
Walking down the elementary hallway and seeing high school students reading to a very captive elementary audience. So great to see our upper level students setting a great example for our younger students. Yet another advantage to having us all on one campus.

The favorite part of my day was…
Being invited to Mr. Swenson’s Animal Science class to see students learning about digestion, from beginning to end, quite literally ;)

The favorite part of my day was…
Watching the staff student volleyball game. I’m not sure what was more surprising…the sophomores beating the seniors to make it to the championship game, the sophomores coming back to beat the staff in the championship, or the two yellow cards that staff may or may not have received from the ref (aka Natalie Martin) ;)

The favorite part of my day was…
Having our first assembly (k-6) to recognize students who were nominated by staff as exhibiting the September character trait of being respectful. Especially great was having our elementary student council reps leading much of the assembly. 7th-12th grade staff-nominated students were also recognized today during lunch with ice cream bars. Mrs. King does a great job keeping our school focused on the character traits we want our students to develop.
